Track 1: Claudia Molitor | Booklet: audio-visual-thing
This is a work that separates the visual from the sonic, draws attention to the relatively simple materials used for composition (paper & pen) and celebrates notation as artistic material in itself (rather than a script for a musical performance). It playfully imagines different notational possibilities: animated notation, sown notation and pop-up notation. Starting with a simple piece of paper the creation of the displayed booklet is filmed and recorded, the final installation constituting three frames showing these activities. The visual: the looped edited, silent film. The audio: the looped, manipulated sound (the speaker is hidden behind the frame so the onlooker/listener puts their ear close to it to hear the sound). The thing: the booklet, whose making lead to the “audio/visual-ness” of the work.
